Landscape zones in Mallorca
Politically, the Balearic island of Mallorca is divided into 52 further administrative districts / municipalities ( Catalan municipalis ) in addition to the capital Palma . Geographically, they can be assigned to certain landscape zones (katalan. Comarca , plural comarques ):
- Llevant , located on the east side of the island, includes the municipal areas of Artà , Capdepera , Son Servera , Manacor and Sant Llorenç des Cardassar .

- Pla de Mallorca : the flat part of the island includes the areas of the municipalities of Santa Eugènia , Sencelles , Costitx , Algaida , Ariany , Lloret de Vistalegre , Sineu , Llubí , Muro , Montuïri , Sant Joan , Maria de la Salut , Santa Margalida , Porreres , Vilafranca de Bonany and Petra .
- Raiguer , located in the central part of the island, borders the Tramuntana in the west and the Pla in the east, with the communities of Alaró , Alcúdia , Marratxí , Santa Maria del Camí , Consell , Binissalem , Inca , Búger , sa Pobla , Lloseta , Mancor de la Vall , Selva and Campanet .
The meaning of the names is not only reflected in the type of construction and construction of houses, walls, chimneys and gate entrances as manifestations, but also in the naming of the winds (to determine the weather) and mountain ranges.
