German champion triathlon sprint distance 2012

In August 2012 Anja Knapp became German champion on the triathlon sprint distance. Until 2016 she was a member of the B-team of the German Triathlon Union (DTU).
At the 2013 European Championships on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) in Alanya , she finished sixth in June. In a team with Jonathan Zipf , Rebecca Robisch and Sebastian Rank , she became European Champion in Mixed Relay. Five weeks later at the ITU World Triathlon Hamburg , she won the world championship in mixed relay together with Jan Frodeno , Anne Haug and Franz Löschke . Anja Knapp is trained by Erich Jud and Dan Lorang .

In the two-year qualification period for a starting place at the 2016 Olympic Summer Games , Anja Knapp achieved the third-best placement of the German athletes on the ITU Olympic qualification list in 47th place, but did not meet the sporting qualification criteria agreed by the DTU and DOSB . For team tactical reasons, Knapp was nevertheless suggested by the DTU as one of the best swimmers in the national team for a start alongside Anne Haug. On July 20, 2016, however, the DOSB decided that only Anne Haug and Laura Lindemann would take part in the Olympic Games.

Anja Knapp is trained by Erich Jud and Dan Lorang . In August 2017 she became German runner-up on the triathlon sprint distance.

Her twin sister Julia is also active as a triathlete. Anja Knapp lives in Dettingen an der Erms .
