Anja Dittmer (born September 22, 1975 in Neubrandenburg , Neubrandenburg district ) is a former German duathlete and triathlete . She is European triathlon champion (1999) and Olympic participant in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Career

Anja Dittmer graduated from high school and then trained as a draftsman . Since November 2001 she has been a sports soldier in the Mainz Sports Promotion Group, where she holds the rank of staff sergeant .

In 1992 she started her first triathlon, and since 1998 she has been a professional triathlete. In 1993 she was able to win the German Triathlon Championship as well as the Duathlon in the youth class. From 1995 to 2000 she was trained by Andreas Barth. This was followed by Thomas Springstein until 2002 , who then got into doping allegations, which is why she changed her trainer again. From 2003 to 2013 she was trained by Ralf Ebli. She was also looked after by the nutritionist Wolfgang Feil .

European triathlon champion 1999

In 1999 she became European champion in the short distance triathlon in Portugal. In 2001, Anja Dittmer suffered a stress fracture , which is why she was unable to take part in the World and European Championships.

In 2004 she won the overall World Cup of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and in 2006 she was third. She started for SC Neubrandenburg and was a member of the B-team of the German Triathlon Union .

2012 Summer Olympics

In 2012, together with Svenja Bazlen and Anne Haug , she qualified for a place at the Olympic Games in London - and started for Germany for the fourth time after 2000, 2004 and 2008. She completed the race over the Olympic distance with a time of 2: 01: 38.00 h and was twelfth behind Anne Haug (eleventh place).

In December 2013 she ended her active career and then became a junior coach at the Olympic base in Potsdam .

In 2018 she started at the " Ö till Ö " Swimrun (Swedish: from island to island).

Private

Her older brother is the former canoeist Andreas Dittmer (* 1972).
