Diana Riesler (born August 2, 1984 in Jena ) is a former German duathlete and triathlete . She is multiple German triathlon champion, European triathlon champion on the long distance (2013) and Ironman winner (2014, 2015). Riesler is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

After completing a degree in forestry, Diana Riesler has been running triathlons since 2006. In February 2008 she was at her first start on the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) winner of the age group 20-25 years.

Triathlon professional since 2009

She has been a professional since the 2009 season. Diana Riesler is a permanent member of the TRIPEP team and she is trained by Joseph Spindler and Brett Sutton .

In June 2010 she became German champion in the middle distance and in 2011 she also won the title in Cologne on the long distance.

European champion triathlon long distance 2013

In September 2013 she became ETU European Champion on the long distance.
In Langkawi , she won the Ironman Malaysia in September 2014 (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) - more than half an hour ahead of the runner-up. In October she was seventh at the European Triathlon Middle Distance Championship on Mallorca.

In May 2015 she won the Ironman Lanzarote . On July 31, it was announced that Diana Riesler, the 19th woman in the Kona Points Ranking System , would receive a pro starting place for the first time at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in October. The 35 highest-placed professional triathletes who collect the most points with their placements in Ironman competitions worldwide between August 31 and July 31 of the following year are each qualified for the World Championships in Kailua Kona . But she couldn't finish the race in Kona.

In November 2017 she was able to repeat her success from the previous year in Malaysia and win the Ironman Malaysia for the fourth time in a row . Diana Riesler has not appeared internationally since 2017.

Diana Riesler is divorced and lives in Felanitx on the Spanish island of Mallorca .
