Brett Sutton
Brett Sutton (* 1959 ) is an Australian- born triathlon coach who now lives and works in Switzerland .
Career
The Australian Brett Sutton came into contact with the element of water at an early age through his strict and authoritarian father, who worked as a swimming coach , even if he was not a talented swimmer himself. He started giving swimming lessons at the age of 12, and when he was kicked out of school at the age of 14, he relied entirely on swimming, first as an assistant coach in Newcastle in northwestern Australia and as a 16-year-old head coach . But then he turned away from swimming and the training of racing dogs and racing horses.
Then he was active as a professional boxer for some time. In 1978 he returned to swimming and despite the lack of diplomas, he was able to take over the Australian national team.
Brett Sutton was banned from practicing in his native Australia in 1999 because a court found him guilty of sexual abuse of a 14-year-old swimmer in the 1980s. Since 2000, Brett Sutton lived with his Swiss wife Fiona and their two daughters in Leysin , and now in St. Moritz . His nickname is "The Doc".
In 2006, Sutton and Alex Bok founded the TBB triathlon team with 18 top athletes and led numerous athletes to great successes, including the multiple Ironman Hawaii winner Chrissie Wellington , the Swiss Caroline Steffen and the Olympic champions Emma Snowsill and Nicola Spirig .
In 2014 he founded Team Trisutto together with Robbie Haywood and Susie Langley and leads the team as head coach . He has been running the Home of Triathlon in St. Moritz since November 2017 and trains triathletes together with Susie Langley, Robbie Haywood and Céline Schärer .
