Matthew John Reed (born November 8, 1975 in Palmerston North ) is a former triathlete from New Zealand who competed for the United States of America since 2007.

Career

In October 2000, Matthew Reed became World Aquathlon Champion.

In 2006 he became a team world champion as a member of the US national triathlon team. He was trained by Cliff English . His older brother Shane Reed (* 1973) is also an active triathlete.

In 2007 Reed was granted American citizenship and in 2008 he competed for the USA at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. He has not appeared internationally since 2014.

His nicknames are Boom Boom , Matt, or Matty . He lives with his wife in Boulder, Colorado .
