Clearwater is a city and also the county seat of Pinellas County in the US state of Florida with 107,685 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Clearwater is the headquarters of Scientology . The city on Tampa Bay is part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ( Tampa Bay Area for short ) with around 2.8 million inhabitants.

Clearwater is located between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay and is approximately 15 km west of Tampa . Adjacent cities are Dunedin , Belleair , Belleair Beach , Largo and Safety Harbor .

climate

The climate is mild and warm, with a light wind from the sea. Statistically, it rains an average of 30% of the days in the summer months, even if only for a short time. The highest temperatures are in May to October, with up to 33 ° C. The coldest months from December to February with an average of only 12 ° C. Snowfall is almost unknown in the region, but hurricanes can occur. Clearwater is listed in the Guinness Book of Records with the world record for the most sunny days (361).

20.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 26.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,986, with 15.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 84.23% of the population, 8.55% spoke Spanish and 7.22% had another mother tongue.
