South Highpoint is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pinellas County in the US state of Florida with 5195 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

South Highpoint is directly adjacent to the towns of Largo and Pinellas Park and is approximately 3 miles south of Clearwater and approximately 9 miles west of Tampa . The CDP is crossed or tangent to US Highway 19 and Florida State Roads 686 and 688 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 5195 inhabitants were distributed over 1982 households. The population density was 1998.1 inh / km². 61.4% of the population identified themselves as whites, 12.1% as African American , 1.2% as Indians and 6.1% as Asian Americans . 15.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.5% to several ethnic groups. 31.1% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 41.7% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 14.8% of all households. 67.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.96 people and the average family size was 3.38 people.

31.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 32.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 31 years. 52.1% of the population were male and 47.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 31,905, with 30.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 88.94% of the population, 8.28% spoke Spanish and 2.78% had another mother tongue.
