Bay Pines is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pinellas County in the US state of Florida with 2931 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Bay Pines borders the cities of Saint Petersburg , Madeira Beach and Seminole and is located on the Gulf of Mexico . The CDP is located approximately 15 km south of Clearwater and 30 km west of Tampa . It is crossed by US Highway 19 ( SR 595 ) and Florida State Road 666 .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 2931 inhabitants were distributed over 1638 households. The population density was 814.2 inh / km². 93.9% of the population identified themselves as white , 2.6% as African American , 0.1% as Native American and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 3.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 41.5% of all households lived in 17.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 54.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.02 people and the average family size was 2.63 people.
15.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 14.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 36.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 53 years. 51.7% of the population were male and 48.3% were female.
The median annual income was $ 43,603, with 9.1% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 96.95% of the population and 3.05% spoke Spanish .
