Ricky Carmichael (born November 27, 1979 in Clearwater / Florida ) is an American racing driver.
Life
Carmichael started his career with motocross at the age of three . Following his amateur career, he turned pro on Kawasaki in 1996 . In the 1996 season he finished eighth overall, which earned him the title of "Rookie of the Year". As a result, he won all championships in which he participated.
In 2002 he moved to Honda ; After initial problems in the Supercross Championship, he then won the National Outdoor Championship in the form of a "Perfect Season" (won every run of the year) and is the first driver to do so. Another "Perfect Season" followed in 2004.
In 2005 he then moved to Suzuki , a team that had not won titles for a long time. Nevertheless, he managed to win both titles again. In 2006, until the last race in Las Vegas, Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and Chad Reed were within reach of winning the title. In the end, Carmichael won the AMA Supercross title with a 2 point lead over James Stewart.
At the end of 2006 he signed a three-year contract, which should allow him to join NASCAR . In total, he was able to achieve over 100 AMA victories.
Carmichael spent the 2008 season in the NASCAR Camping World East Series . He achieved eight top 10 placements in 13 races and was awarded the Most Popular Driver Award. In 2009 he took part in races of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series , achieved two top 10 placements in 18 races and also received the Most Popular Driver Award in this series .
