Peter Robertson
Peter Robertson (born February 17, 1976 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian triathlete . He is an Olympian (2000, 2004) and multiple triathlon world champion on the short distance (2001, 2003, 2005). He is on the best list of Australian triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
Robertson was the first of four children and he started triathlon in 1992 at the age of 16.
Peter Robertson started in 2000 (34th place) and 2004 (24th place) in the Summer Olympics. In 2000 he was runner-up in Perth behind the French Olivier Marceau . He was trained by Brett Sutton .
In 2001 he became triathlon world champion on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running). In 2002 he became vice world champion and in 2003 and 2005 he was able to get the world champion title again.
His nickname is "Robbo". In December 2010 he announced his retirement from professional sport - but reversed this retirement and he started in Ironman races on the long and half distance (= Ironman 70.3 ). In August 2013, he finished tenth at the European Championships on the Ironman half-distance in Wiesbaden. In 2014 he finished second here.
In his second start on the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) at the Ironman Cairns , he finished third in June 2014. He has not appeared internationally since 2015.
