Vincent Luis (born June 27, 1989 ) is a French triathlete . He is European and Junior World Champion 2008, member of the national team and the Collectif France Ambition 2012 , two-time Olympian (2012 and 2016), European champion in the triathlon sprint distance (2016) and reigning world champion in the triathlon short distance (2019).

Career

In August 2007 he was third in Hamburg at the Junior Triathlon World Championship.

ITU World Champion Juniors 2008

In May 2008 he became Junior European Champion and in June also World Champion.

Vincent Luis competes in France for the Ste Geneviève Triathlon and also represents this club in the Lyonnaise des Eaux club championship series . In Beauvais (June 13, 2010) and Paris (July 18, 2010) he finished third and was the best of his club, who achieved third and seventh place respectively in the club ranking thanks to Luis. In September 2013 he became French triathlon champion.

2012 Summer Olympics

In London, he finished eleventh at the 2012 Olympic Games. In July 2014, he became vice world champion with the French team in Hamburg. At the state championships he took third place in September. In July 2015 he became triathlon world champion in the team classification in Hamburg. In October he became the French Vice State Triathlon Champion.

European champion triathlon sprint distance 2016

In June 2016 he became European champion on the triathlon sprint distance in France. Vincent Luis qualified for the second time in 2016 for a starting place at the Summer Olympics and he finished seventh as the best Frenchman on August 18, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

He finished eighth in the 2017 world championship racing series. In March 2018, like in the previous year, he finished third in the first race of the ITU World Championship series in Abu Dhabi . In May 2018, Vincent Luis became the French triathlon state champion on the sprint distance for the second time after 2013. In the 2018 World Championship racing series, he was runner-up in the Grand Final in Australia in September.

Since 2019 he started in the Bahrain Elite Endurance Triathlon Team . In August 2019, the 30-year-old became world champion in the short-distance triathlon in Lausanne. After Olivier Marceau (2000), he is the second Frenchman to win this title.
Vincent Luis was the top-earning triathlete of the 2019 season with $ 289,200 in prize money.
