Cassandre Beaugrand (born May 23, 1997 in Livry-Gargan ) is a French triathlete and member of the national team. She is youth champion (2013, 2014), European youth champion (2013 in team competition), three-time and reigning elite state champion (2014, 2017, 2018), junior vice world champion (2014), junior European champion (2016) and Olympian (2016).

Career

From 2006 to 2011 Beaugrand joined the club in her hometown, Livry-Gargan Athlétisme , and has been coached by her father Ludovic Beaugrand since then . In 2012 Beaugrand joined the AS Monaco Athlétisme club and was also the elite triathlete of the Saint-Raphaël Triathlon until 2013 , but then switched to the Club Poissy Triathlon in the 2014 season , with which she competed in the triathlon, although still in the youth category -Series Grand Prix de Triathlon participated.

Cassandre Beaugrand has been participating in ITU competitions since 2012. When she was only 15 she was second in the team competition in the youth category (16-17 years) at the European Championships in Aguilas . 2013 Beaugrand won the silver medal at the French State Championships in the junior class (18-19 years), although she was only just in the youth class ( cadet (te), 16-17 years). In June, Beaugrand was European champion in the youth relay competition in Holten.

State Champion Cross-Country 2013

In 2013 and 2014, Beaugrand won the French national cross-country championships and set a new French youth record twice in 2013 and 2014 over 1500 meters.

2013 and 2014 Beaugrand also took part in ITU elite competitions, although she still belonged to the youth category ( cadet (te): 16-17 years). Beaugrand has been internationally known since the EYOF (European Olympic Youth Festival) in Utrecht, where she won the 1,500 m discipline in July 2013.

State champion triathlon 2014

In 2014, Beaugrand won her first ITU individual gold medal at the Junior European Cup in Quarteira (April 13, 2014). At the European Junior Championships in Kitzbühel in June, the then 16-year-old was awarded the bronze medal. In 2014, Beaugrand was celebrated as the new “superstar” in the French media - also because she was able to win international medals in categories higher than her age.

On August 29, 2014, Beaugrand was runner-up in the junior category at the Grand Finals of the triathlon series in Edmonton and French triathlon state champion in the elite class in September. At the grand finale of the Club Championship series on September 28, 2014 in Nice , in which Cassandre Beaugrand competed in the Grand Prix series for the first time this season, she won the individual competition, the team competition, the overall Grand Prix team competition for Poissy Triathlon and the category “Best Young Triathlete” and Elite Sprint State Champion. On October 27, 2014, she set a new national record on the 10 km distance (called semi-marathon or Voie Royale) in her age group (cadette) in Saint-Denis.

In June 2016 she was third in the European championship on the triathlon sprint distance.

2016 Summer Olympics

Cassandre Beaugrand qualified for a place in the Summer Olympics. She started on August 20, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro with Audrey Merle for France and finished 30th.

In May 2018, Beaugrand became the French elite state champion on the triathlon sprint distance for the third time just a few days after her 21st birthday. In August, she was third at the European championship on the short distance in Glasgow and in the French mixed team she was also European champion with the relay. In September she became U23 World Triathlon Champion in Australia.

Private

Cassandre Beaugrand lives in Antibes , where she is trained by her father. She attended the Lycée Audiberti , where she passed the final exam in economics and social sciences (BAC ES = baccalauréat economique et social) in 2015 . She uses the local swimming club CN Antibes as a base and trains with the ASM Athlétisme in Monaco at the weekend .
