Audrey Merle (born May 19, 1995 in Clermont-Ferrand ) is a French triathlete . She is a member of the national team, junior vice-European champion (2014), team world champion on the sprint distance (2015) and U23 world champion on the Olympic short distance (2015).

Career

Audrey Merle studies at the UFR STAPS Université de Montpellier .

In June 2014 she became French junior state champion and in Kitzbühel she was junior runner-up in the European triathlon championship just three weeks later.
In August she also won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Canada. She became the U23 world champion in the Olympic short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

In July 2015 she became the triathlon world champion in the team classification in Hamburg and in September she became the U23 world champion in the Olympic short distance.

After initially for the 2016 Summer Olympics nominated Emmie Charayron will not go for health reasons for France at the start, was Audrey Merle from FFTRI. nominated as a substitute starter. She started on August 20, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro with Cassandre Beaugrand for France and finished 35th.

Merle starts for Club TCG 79 Parthenay , she is trained by Stephanie Déanaz-Gros and lives in Montpellier . Her sister Célia Merle (born March 18, 1999), who is four years her junior , is also successful as a triathlete.
