Gamagōri ( Japanese 蒲 郡 市 , - shi ) is a city in Aichi Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .
geography
Gamagōri extends along the Mikawa Bay , in which the island Takeshima is 300 m off the coast and just 3 km off the coast of Mikawa-Ōshima , both of which are uninhabited but built up.
history
The city of Gamagōri was founded on April 1, 1954 from the small town communities Gamagōri (蒲 郡), Miya (三 谷) and Shiodzu (塩 津).
