Hazu ( Japanese 幡 豆 町 , - chō ) was a Japanese community in Aichi Prefecture in Hazu County . In 2011, like the entire district, it was incorporated into the independent city of Nishio .
geography
The city is located on the coast of Mikawa Bay . In the north, the city is delimited by the Sangane Mountains ( 三 ヶ 根 山 ). There is a good view of Mikawa Bay from the Sangane Skyline Road (toll road) that was built on it. Hazu also includes the two small islands Maejima ( 前 島 , also Usagishima ( う さ ぎ 島 , "Hare Island"); 34 ° 46 ′ 45 ″ N , 137 ° 8 ′ 40 ″ E ) and Oki (no) shima ( 沖 (ノ)島 , also Saru-ga-shima ( 猿 ヶ 島 , "island of the monkeys"); 34 ° 46 ′ 19 ″ N , 137 ° 8 ′ 47 ″ E ). Hazu is mainly divided into the districts of Higashi-Hazu ( 東 幡 豆 , East-Hazu), Terabe ( 寺 部 , temple district), Nishi-Hazu ( 西 幡 豆 , West-Hazu) and Toba ( 鳥羽 ). In 2011, Hazu joined the city of Nishio ( 西 尾市 ) together with the two other cities in the district of Hazu, Kira ( 吉 良 町 ) and Isshiki ( 一色 町 ) and was absorbed into it.
Attractions
In the east of Hazu there is also the Kodomo no Kuni ( 子 供 の 国 , "Kinderland"), a small theme park for children. There is a small history museum in the district of Terabe near the town hall. The Terabe Castle ( 寺 部 城 , Terabe-jō ) was originally located near it .

Hazu can be reached by car or train from Anjō or Gamagōri through the Meitetsu Gamagōri line . Hazu has four stations on this line, Kodomonokuni, Higashi-Hazu, Nishi-Hazu and Mikawa-Toba.
