Toyoake ( Japanese 豊 明 市 , -shi ) is a city in Aichi Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .

Toyoake is southeast of Nagoya and west of Okazaki .

history

In 1560 the Battle of Okehazama took place here, which marked the rise of Oda Nobunaga to one of the three Japanese unions.

The city of Toyoake was founded on August 1, 1972 .
