Joanne King (born March 12, 1976 in Geelong ) is a former Australian triathlete . She is triathlon world champion (1998) and Ironman winner (1999).

Career

Joanne King was Junior World Triathlon Champion in 1996 and finished 31st in the main class.

In 1998 she became triathlon world champion on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) in the elite class (professionals) in Lausanne. She was trained by Brett Sutton .

In June 1999 she won the Ironman Europe and in July she was runner-up on the long-distance triathlon. At the Ironman Hawaii in October, she achieved her best placement with ninth place.

It has not appeared internationally since 2007.
