Loretta Harrop
Loretta Harrop (born July 17, 1975 in Brisbane ) is a former Australian triathlete . She is triathlon world champion (1999) and two-time Olympic participant (2000, 2004).
Career
Loretta Harrop was an active swimmer in her youth and started triathlon at the age of 21. In 1997 she started for the first time at the World Championships on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and she finished twelfth in Perth. She was trained by Brett Sutton .
Triathlon world champion 1999
In September 1999 she became ITU triathlon world champion in Montreal . A year later, she started for Australia at the Olympic Games and finished fifth in Sydney in September 2000.
In 2002, her twin brother Luke Harrop died in a road accident while cycling - he was also a triathlete and Emma Snowsill's boyfriend at the time .
In 2004 she was runner-up on the short-distance triathlon in Portugal and she won the third edition of the Life Time Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, which is endowed with 500,000 US dollars .
Second Olympic Summer Games 2004
Harrop finished second in her second start at the Summer Olympics in Athens in August. In 2007 Loretta Harrop declared the end of her active career. She was able to win twelve World Cup races in her active time.
Loretta Harrop is married and lives in Seven Hills, Queensland with her husband and two children.
Awards

- Loretta Harrop was in 2014 by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) for inclusion in the "Hall of Fame" nominated in recognition of his sporting achievements in the 2016 Hall of Fame added (along with Brad Beven ).
