Jackie Fairweather (born Gallagher ; born November 10, 1967 , † November 3, 2014 ) was an Australian triathlete and marathon runner .

Career

Gallagher started triathlon in 1992.

Duathlon and triathlon world champion 1996

In 1996 she became triathlon and duathlon world champion and in 1999 she won the duathlon world championship again.

Marathon from 2000

After missing a nomination for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Jackie Gallagher - three-time triathlon runner-up (1995, 1997, 1999) - turned to the marathon.
In 2002 she finished eleventh in the Boston Marathon and third in the Commonwealth Games Marathon in Manchester . The following year she came in 15th place in the Chicago Marathon . In 2004 she was ninth in the Nagoya Marathon and twelfth in the London Marathon .

Ultra marathon from 2005

In 2005, a 14th place in Nagoya was followed by a victory in the Gold Coast Marathon and a ninth place in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon . In the same year she started to compete in ultramarathons . In 2009 she became a Commonwealth Champion in the 100 km road race .

Fairweather was married to the Australian archer Simon Fairweather since 2004 . The 46-year-old committed suicide on November 3, 2014.
