Non Stanford (born January 8, 1989 ) is a British triathlete . She is triathlon world champion in the sprint and short distance (2013).

Career

Non Stanford was a successful cross-country runner until an injury forced her to switch to swimming training in the summer of 2008, which brought her to the triathlon club at her University of Birmingham. Despite the late and unplanned entry into the triathlon sport, the successes came quickly. In 2009 Stanford finished second in the British Triathlon Super Series and for 2009/10 she received the Paul Weston Triathlon Scholarship from Birmingham University to specialize entirely in triathlon.

In 2010 Stanford graduated (Sport and Exercises Sciences) and won the bronze medal at the Premium European Cup in Brasschaat.

2010 Non Stanford also took part in the French club championship series Lyonnaise des Eaux and competed for Montpellier Agglo Tri . In Beauvais (June 13, 2010) she was tenth (best of her club), in Paris (July 18, 2010) fifth (second best of her club) and in La Baule (Triathlon Audencia, September 18, 2010) she finished 22nd That was the first time that she was not among the three triathlètes classants l'équipe at the Grand Final . In La Baule, too, it was the foreign elite stars who ensured the French club's success (third in the team ranking): Barbara Riveros, Liz Blatchford and Lois Rosindale .

U23 world champion triathlon 2012

In October 2012, she became the U23 world champion in New Zealand. She started in the elite category in 2013 and won the world championship title in London in September in both the short and the sprint distance.

In September 2015 she finished second in the final “Grand Final race” in Chicago, eighth place in the 2015 World Championship racing series. Non Stanford was able to secure a starting place at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and she went next Helen Jenkins and Vicky Holland at the start and finished fourth.

In the third race of the world championship series, Stanford finished third on May 12, 2018 in Japan. In the ITU Point List 2018, Non Stanford was ranked 15th.

Stanford lives in West Wales and competes for the Swansea Harriers club . She starts in the national team of the British Triathlon Federation .
