Ritchie Nicholls (born July 12, 1987 in Montrose , Scotland ) is a triathlete from the United Kingdom . He is U23 European Champion (2007), Vice World Champion Duathlon in the Juniors (2005) and won the Ironman 70.3 European Championship in 2013 .

Career

In September 2005 Nicholls was Duathlon Vice World Champion in the Juniors.

U23 European Triathlon Champion 2007

In 2007 he was U23 European triathlon champion in July and fourth in the triathlon world championship on the Olympic distance in the U23 class in Hamburg.

In May 2013 he finished fifth at the European Triathlon Championships on the middle distance in Barcelona. On August 11, 2013 he won the Ironman 70.3 Germany in Wiesbaden with a new course record of under 4 hours for the first time. With his winning time of 3:56:55 h he undercut the previous record of last year's German winner Michael Raelert, who did not start after an injury, by 7 minutes.

He is trained by Brett Sutton and starts for the TBB team . In May 2015 he was tenth at the European Championships on the triathlon middle distance.

Private

Ritchie Nicholls has been married to Irish triathlete Eimear Mullan (* 1982) since March 2016 . The two live in Portstewart.
