Eimear Nicholls (born Eimear Mullan on May 21, 1982 in Portstewart ) is a duathlete , triathlete and Ironman winner (2012, 2014) from the United Kingdom .

Career

Eimer Mullan competed in tetrathlon (swimming, running, shooting and riding) for Ireland and Great Britain. She has been running triathlons since 2007.

Professional triathlete since 2011

Mullan has been competing for Ireland in the duathlon since 2008, finished eleventh at the 2010 World Cup and has been a professional triathlete since 2011.
In June 2012 she won the half Ironman distance ( Ironman 70.3 ) in Great Britain and in July she won the full Ironman distance in Bolton . Since 2013 she has been trained by Bella Bayliss and Brett Sutton and she starts for the team TBB .

In August 2014 she achieved first place at the Embrunman after the bronze medal in the previous year. With its mountainous route, this race in the French Alps is one of the toughest long-distance races in the world. At the end of September, she won her second Ironman victory on Mallorca.

In October she was the first Irish female athlete in Barcelona to undercut the 9-hour mark on the Ironman distance after 8:56:51 h (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running).

In 2015 and 2016, she struggled with injuries. Eimer Nicholls has been married to British triathlete Ritchie Nicholls (* 1987) since March 2016 and they both live in Portstewart.

In November 2017, the then 35-year-old took her sixth victory in an Ironman 70.3 race with her win at Ironman 70.3 Xiamen . Eimear Nicholls has not appeared internationally since 2017.
