Sofie Goos (born May 6, 1980 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian triathlete and Ironman winner (2009, 2012).

Career

Sofie Goos competes as a triathlete in both the short and middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, 21.1 km running) and since 2007 also in the long distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running).
In July 2008 she became Vice State Champion on the short distance triathlon.

Ironman winner 2009

In November 2009, the 29-year-old won the Ironman Florida on the long-distance triathlon .

In the middle distance she achieved the third victory in a row at the Ironman 70.3 in Antwerp in July 2011.

5th place in the European Ironman Championship 2012

In May 2012 she won her second Ironman victory in Brazil and in July she was fifth at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt am Main.

In May 2016, Sofie Goos was attacked with a knife by a stranger during a training run in Antwerp's Park Spoor Noord . She suffered injuries to her back and kidney. The perpetrator could then be arrested.

She starts for the BMC-Etixx Pro Triathlon Team and is trained by Bart Decru . Sofie Goos stated that she would end her active career at the end of the 2018 season.

She lives in Antwerp with her partner .
