Andreas Böcherer (born April 6, 1983 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German triathlete who won the Ironman 70.3 European Championship in 2011. He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In September 2004, Andreas Böcherer became German cross triathlon champion at X-Terra Germany (1.5 km swimming, 35 km mountain bike and 10 km trail run).

German champion triathlon middle distance 2007

In 2007 he successfully started the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) on Lanzarote for the first time and became German triathlon champion over the middle distance in the same year.

Until the end of 2009 he started for the Soprema Team MTG Mannheim and since the beginning of 2010 he started for the Tri Team Kaiserstuhl . In August 2010 he reached second place at the first Ironman Regensburg .

Winner Ironman 70.3 European Championship 2011

In August 2011 Andreas Böcherer won the Ironman 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden .

In June 2015 he finished third at the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt and set a new personal Ironman best time of 8:03:49 h. In August he was sixth in the middle distance in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in the Austrian province of Salzburg as part of the Ironman 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun . In October 2015, Böcherer finished 20th in his third start at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

In May 2016 he was able to successfully defend his victory from the previous year at Ironman 70.3 Austria in St. Pölten .

German champion triathlon middle distance 2016

At the Challenge Heilbronn in June 2016, he became German champion in the triathlon middle distance for the second time. Due to the weather, the race had to be held as a duathlon (5 km running, 93 km cycling and 21.1 km running) but the DTU decided to use the result as DM.

Second Ironman European Championship 2016

In July 2016, he finished second at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt.

In Denmark he finished second at the Ironman 70.3 European Championships in June 2017. An injury to the plantar fascia forced the 34-year-old to cancel the planned start at Ironman Hawaii 2017 in September . He is being trained by Luboš Bílek .

In May 2018 he won the Ironman 70.3 Pays d'Aix France for the second time since 2015 . With Ironman Italy , the 35-year-old won his first Ironman race in Cervia in September .

Böcherer studies mathematics and lives with his partner and two daughters in Freiburg.
