Roland Knoll (born September 1, 1967 ) is a former German triathlete , former national coach of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) and today u. a. worked as a trainer for the elite athletes of the Austrian Triathlon Association.

Career

Roland Knoll started his first triathlon in Eichstätt in 1985. The multiple Bavarian triathlon champion (1990, 1991 and 1998) finished ninth in the 1995 World Triathlon Championships on the short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running). In April 2000, Knoll qualified as the best German at the World Championships in Perth in April 2000 for participation in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , but was not proposed to the NOK for nomination by the DTU despite Knoll's injunction from the Frankfurt Regional Court because he had not been part of the DSB's anti-doping program for two years .

Trainer since 2004

After the end of his active career, the two-time German triathlon champion (1991, 1997) initially worked as a DTU junior and U23 national coach from 2004 to 2009, and then from 2009 to 2012 as a trainer for the elite athletes of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) responsible.

Since January 1, 2013 he has been training athletes for the Austrian Triathlon Association . He has also been the regional trainer of the Bavarian Triathlon Association together with Ute Schäfer since 2013 . He is also the personal trainer of numerous professional triathletes such as B. Sophia Saller , Kristin Möller , Lisa Perterer u. a.

Roland Knoll has been President of the Ingolstadt swimming and triathlon club SC Delphin Ingolstadt since 2009. In 2001 Roland Knoll initiated the Ingolstadt Half Marathon (4000 participants), which he is still responsible for organizing to this day.

His daughter Anabel Knoll (* 1996) is also active as a triathlete and started in the 2015 season in the D / C team (juniors) of the German Triathlon Union . Knoll lives in Ingolstadt .
