Markus Fachbach (born October 9, 1982 in Lahnstein ) is a German triathlete . In 2014 he became European champion in the long distance, in 2010 German champion in the middle distance and in 2011 he won the Ironman Regensburg . Fachbach is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Markus Fachbach started his first triathlon in 1997 and has been a professional athlete since 2005.

Professional since 2005

He qualified for the Ironman Hawaii 2006 in his first Ironman start in 2005 with his third place in Florida and on his debut in Hawaii he reached 25th place with 8:45:06 hours. Fachbach was a member of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team until its dissolution in 2011 and trained together with the two-time Ironman winner Normann Stadler . He starts today for the Mohrenwirt pro team .

In August 2011, he achieved his first Ironman victory in his twelfth participation in a long-distance triathlon in Regensburg.
In July 2013 Fachbach was German runner-up in the long distance behind Timo Bracht in Roth .

European champion triathlon long distance 2014

On September 13, 2014 he won the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam and thus became European champion over the long distance.

In addition to sports, he studies business administration at the University of Mainz . Markus Fachbach lives in Kadenbach near Koblenz .
