Catherine Clement

Catherine Clément (* 1939 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a French writer, feminist , philosopher and psychologist .

Life

Catherine Clément - coming from a Catholic-Jewish family - studied philosophy and psychology at the École normal supérieure in Paris . She is a student of Claude Lévi-Strauss . She then taught for fourteen years as a research assistant at the Sorbonne . She then worked as the cultural editor of the Paris daily Le matin . In 1969 she went to India for four years for the French Ministry of Culture . She lived in Dakar with her husband and then returned to Paris. In 1986 Clément organized the India Year in France and in 1987 moved to New Delhi .

Her brother Jérôme Clément is a board member of the Franco-German television broadcaster ARTE .
