Route

  • The swimming distance of 3.86 km is two laps in the Weerwater , a lake within the city of Almere. The start is on the Esplanade near the city center.
  • The 180 km cycle route leads around parts of the southern Flevoland polder on a circular route in two laps . From Almere, the participants first drive south to the Gooimeer , from where they are then guided clockwise along the IJmeer and the Markermeer to the north to the outskirts of Lelystad . From there the course runs south towards the town of Zeewolde , then turns west in Horsterwold and leads back to Almere along the Gooimeer. The route is largely flat due to its location on the polder, but at the same time it is very susceptible to wind, as most of the cycling discipline leads directly along the water.
  • The running route over the marathon distance consists of a circuit around the inner-city lake Weerwater , which has to be completed a total of six times. Starting from the transition area on the Esplanade, the route leads counter-clockwise around the lake; the finish is at the end of the sixth lap in the center of Almere.

A special feature of the route is that it is 4.5 m below sea level .
