Susan Blatt (* July 13, 1981 as Susan Dietrich in Darmstadt ) is a former German triathlete .

Career

Susan Dietrich attended the Michelstadt high school . After trying different sports such as athletics and gymnastics in her youth, she got into rock 'n' roll dance in 1997 , where she danced tournaments up to B class. An injury to her dance partner forced her to quit.

Triathlon since 2003

She came to triathlon in 2003 by chance. In the teaching course for sport and German at the TU Darmstadt , she initially failed in the breaststroke test. That was the reason to start swimming regularly. As a training group she chose the triathletes of the DSW Darmstadt, because the club was a short distance from her apartment at the time.

Susan Dietrich competed in her first triathlon competition in 2005 over the sprint distance and in 2008 she finished her first middle distance in second place.

First Ironman start in 2010

After Susan Dietrich became Hessian Champion and Vice-German Champion in the middle distance in June 2009, she started in Frankfurt am Main in July 2010 for the first time with a professional license at a long-distance Ironman, where she was seventh straight away.

She has been on the coaching staff of the marathon project at the TU Darmstadt since 2003 and has been its director since 2007. Susan Dietrich has been working for the DSW 1912 Darmstadt since 2004 . She lives in Messel near Darmstadt and was trained by Ralf Ebli .

In October 2012 she married Matthias Blatt - a former employee of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

The mother-to-be has been taking a break since 2014 after finishing second at the Ironman Lanzarote in May. She finished her studies during pregnancy and parental leave. She has been working as a teacher since 2017 and does triathlon without a professional license.
