Matthew Trautman (born February 20, 1985 in Cape Town ) is a South African triathlete and two-time Ironman winner (2014, 2018).

Career

Matt Trautman has been a professional athlete since 2014. He is trained by Brett Sutton . Since the nickname is "Matty". In September he won the Ironman Wales on the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) .

He started the 2015 season successfully with a win in January at Ironman 70.3 South Africa .

In January 2017, he sustained spinal injuries in an accident while training. In 2018, the then 33-year-old was able to win Ironman Wales again after 2014 and set a new course record with his winning time of 8:53:21 h. In January 2020 he won the Ironman 70.3 South Africa for the fourth time.

Matt Trautman has been married since 2015 and lives with his wife in Cape Town.
