Gerrit Schellens
Gerrit Schellens (* 22 July 1966 in Lommel as Gerardus Schellens ) is a Belgian triathlete and two-time European champion (2004 and 2005).
Career
Gerrit Schellens started triathlon in 1993. He has already won four long-distance Almere triathlons (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) (2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008).
In April 2004 he finished third at the European Duathlon Championships on the long distance. In 2004 and 2005 he was European long-distance triathlon champion.
In South Africa he was twice the Ironman winner (2006 and 2007).
After he had been quiet for a few years, he surprised again in 2014 with his sixth place at the European championship on the long distance.
