Eneko Llanos Burguera (born November 30, 1976 in Vitoria-Gasteiz ) is a Basque triathlete , Olympian (2000, 2004), multiple Ironman winner, long distance world champion (2003) and European champion (2010) as well as European ironman champion (2013). He is included in the best list of Spanish triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
Olympic Summer Games 2000 and 2004
Eneko Llanos competed in triathlon for Spain in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. In 2000 he finished 20th and 2004 in Athens 23rd.
World champion triathlon long distance 2003
In 2003 he became triathlon world champion over the long distance at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships (4 km swimming, 130 km cycling and 30 km running).
In May 2007 Eneko Llanos won the Ironman in Lanzarote and he was able to repeat this success in 2010.
Xterra world champion cross triathlon
In 2003, 2004 and 2009 he became Xterra World Champion in cross triathlon.
In June 2010 he became European champion on the ITU long distance in his hometown of Vitoria-Gasteiz. At the Ironman Arizona in November 2011, after the Swiss Ronnie Schildknecht, he was the second athlete to achieve an Ironman time of less than eight hours in a race in North America.
In July 2012 he was runner-up in the long-distance triathlon in Spain and in July 2013 in Frankfurt he became European Champion at Ironman Germany (Ironman European Championships). In November 2018, the 41-year-old won his seventh Ironman race with the Ironman Arizona .
His brother Hektor Llanos (* 1972), who was four years older than him, was also active as a professional triathlete until 2010.
