Mauricio Méndez Cruz (born October 20, 1995 ) is a Mexican triathlete and Xterra world champion cross triathlon (2016).
Career
Mauricio Méndez became U20 world champion cross triathlon at Maui in October 2013 at the age of 18.
He has been a professional triathlete since 2014. In 2015 he became national champion in the triathlon middle distance. He is trained by Lesley Paterson .
Xterra World Champion Cross Triathlon 2016
In October 2016, Mauricio Méndez Xterra world champion took him to the elite class (1.5 miles swimming, 30 km mountain bike and 11 km cross-country run), making him the youngest athlete to ever win this competition.
In August 2018, the 22-year-old won his fourth Ironman 70.3 race with the Ironman 70.3 Philippines .
