Waltraud Schiffer (born March 23, 1966 ) is an Austrian politician and farmer .

life and career

Waltraud Schiffer was born on March 23, 1966. As a teenager, she completed an apprenticeship as an office and retail clerk and as a medical-technical assistant . She and her husband Siegfried have been running the so-called Schifferhof in Eggersdorf near Graz , about 17 kilometers from the Styrian capital , since at least the 1990s . The business is run as an adventure and excursion farm and since 1996 as a "school on the farm". The management has been carried out for two decades in the form of a working group with two neighboring families. The farm specializes in processing dairy products. The main products are cheese, curd cheese, butter, natural and fruit yoghurts, cream cheese and a large number of different types of ice cream. The Schiffer, who came from the black area around Graz, gained her first experience in politics as a long-time councilor in her home town of Eggersdorf, where she represented the ÖVP from the mid-2000s . As of September 27, 2011 she was a member of the 1st constituency of the Styrian Landtag , where she replaced the previous MP Wolfgang Kasic and was part of the Landtag until the end of the XVI. Part of the legislative period.

After she had fallen out with the ÖVP in her home town, after losing 53 to 121 votes in a popular party vote and finally ended up far behind, Schiffer resigned from all her functions at the ÖVP and resigned from the black state parliament club. The fact that she did not resign from her state parliament mandate then caused displeasure among the ÖVP. Schiffer then said that she would donate her monthly salary of 5,579 euros gross to the church in her home parish, as she was not dependent on this money. At the beginning of February 2015, she then changed camps and found accommodation with the FPÖ , after having only had 24 minutes speaking time in the state parliament as an ÖVP member of the state parliament. Shortly before the end of the XVI. During the legislative period, she caused a stir once again when she helped the Stronach team with her signature to run for the 2015 state elections in Styria . The Kronen Zeitung referred to her as a bought bride , which in turn displeased the representatives of the Stronach team.

In addition, the mother of three appeared at the Chamber of Agriculture as a district chamber councilor and was the chairwoman of the farmers' union in Eggersdorf.
