Julie Dibens (* 3. April 1975 in Salisbury as Julie Claire Ricketts ) is a former British triathlete and Olympian (2004). She is a three-time world champion in Xterra-Cross-Triathlon (2007, 2008, 2009), world champion in the half-distance triathlon (2009) and Ironman winner (2011).

Career

Since 1991, Julie Ricketts competed in swimming competitions for Great Britain and in 1997 she started triathlon.

In 2000 she married Michael Dibens and has since started as Julie Dibens.

2004 Summer Olympics

At the European Championships in 2000 she was third in the short distance triathlon and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens she finished 30th in August.

Winner Ironman 70.3 World Championships 2009

In 2009 Julie Dibens won the Ironman 70.3 World Championship . She was the first woman to achieve a time under four hours over this distance.

In cross-triathlon, Dibens achieved her third world title in a row in 2009 ( Xterra World Championship ) and in 2010 she was runner-up again. In October 2010 he was third at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championship).

Ironman 2011 winner

In June 2011 she was able to win the Ironman Coeur d'Alene with a new course record on the long distance triathlon (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) .

After a two and a half year break from racing, she successfully started again in triathlon in the middle distance in 2014. Julie Dibens has finished her active time as a triathlon professional, she lives with her husband in Boulder and is active as a trainer.
