Timothy James Reed (born March 7, 1985 in Lord Howe Island ) is an Australian triathlete , winner of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship (2016) and Ironman winner (2016).

Career

Tim Reed started as a professional triathlete in 2009. He is considered one of the strongest athletes on the running track and is included in the best list of Australian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

In September 2014, he finished seventh at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Canada . In December he was third behind the two Germans Michael Raelert and Andreas Dreitz at the Challenge Bahrain . In this race, which was held for the first time, the highest prize money to date was paid out and Reed secured USD 25,000 in third place in a very strong field.

In May 2016 he won the Ironman Australia . In September he was able to break away from the German Sebastian Kienle by two seconds in the finish sprint in Mooloolaba and win the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. In May 2019 he finished second at Ironman Australia again after 2017.

Reed lives in Byron Bay with his wife and son .
