The "Busselton Jetty" - a landing stage with a length of 1841 m
The Ironman Western Australia is an annual in December Triathlon -Sportveranstaltung about the Ironman as distance (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in Busselton on Australia's west coast.
Busselton is about 220 km south of Perth . The start of the swim course is at the famous jetty, the "Busselton Jetty". The cycling and running routes each run over three laps and are known for their fast routing.
In 2009, the Frenchman Patrick Vernay was able to repeat his victory from 2007 and Gina Crawford successfully defended her success from the previous year in the women's category.
The race on December 3, 2017 was held as a duathlon without swimming after sharks were sighted off the coast.
Course records
The course record was set by Alistair Brownlee in 2019 with a winning time of 7:45:21 h, which is the fastest time in a race in Australia. The New Zealander Teresa Adam holds the course record for women, the 2019 winner with a time of 8:38:43 h.
