Sophie Delemer (born June 27, 1967 ) is a former French triathlete , runner-up long distance world champion (1996), multiple national champion (1992, 1996, 1998, 2001) and Ironman winner (2004). She is ranked eighth in the best list of French triathletes on the Ironman distance . (As of August 31, 2018)

Career

In 1992 Sophie Delemer became national champion on the duathlon short distance and national champion on the triathlon short distance in Lacroix-Saint-Ouen.

Vice World Champion Triathlon Long Distance 1996

In September 1996 she was runner-up in the long-distance triathlon in the United States behind the American Karen Smyers .
At the World Cup in the following year she finished seventh in Nice.

National champion long distance triathlon in 1998 and 2001

In 1998 she became national long distance champion in Gérardmer.
In September 2001, Delemer became national long-distance champion with her victory in front of Australian Kate Allen , who started for Austria at the Triathlon International de Nice.

With her victory at Ironman France in Gérardmer in June 2004, she qualified for a starting place at Ironman Hawaii , but could not start there because of a virus infection. In 2006 she declared her career over.
