Lacroix-Saint-Ouen (also: La Croix-Saint-Ouen ) is a northern French municipality with 4708 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement Compiègne and the canton Compiègne-2 . The inhabitants are called Croisés Saint-Audoniens .

geography

Lacroix-Saint-Ouen is located on the River Oise . Lacroix-Saint-Ouen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Compiègne in the north, Saint-Jean-aux-Bois in the east, Saint-Sauveur in the south, Verberie in the south-west, Le Meux in the west and Armancourt and Jaux in the north-west.

The former Route nationale 32 runs through the municipality .

history

The place is said to have been founded by Dagobert I around the former monastery . Saint Ouen built and named the monastery in the first half of the 7th century under the name of Sainte-Croix. In 893 it became part of the monastery property of the Saint-Médard Abbey of Soissons.
