history
The building contractor and patron Klaus Hübotter built the four-story office and commercial building with two stacked storeys in 1974 according to plans by the architect Volkhard Meyer-Burg (Bremen) on a relatively small plot of only 125 m². The building housed three offices and a shop on 840 m² of usable space. In the period of factual post-war modernism , a building was created with its more expressionistic facades made of glass blocks and various projections and recesses. The difference in level between Bischofsnadel and Ostertorswallstraße was taken up by the two-storey business premises. The company Dr. Hübotter Co .
The architecture guide bremen writes: “Despite its unreservedly modern attitude, this building is neither exhibitionistic nor hostile to its surroundings. Rather, it knows how to cleverly fit into its surroundings thanks to its proportions, its vertical bay-like structure and the roof-like staggering of the top two floors. "
Hübotter regretted that the building was not awarded the BDA Bremen Prize, with the critical words: “The house is so excellent, in every respect, the judges couldn't simply overlook that, they had to want to overlook it. "
Today (2014) the building is used by service providers and on the ground floor by shops and a restaurant.
