history

The Seigneurie Appilly was first mentioned on May 2, 708 and at that time it belonged to the Saint-Bertin Abbey in Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) . Towards the end of the 10th century, the French King Lothar confirmed that Appilly was under the Abbey of Saint-Eloy in Noyon. The village consisted of three fiefs , the northern fief of today's Mairie belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Eloy in Noyon, the fief of the Seigneurs of Varesnes was called Canny , the third fief was called Offémont and belonged to the Seigneurs of Nesle . The northern fiefdom had a manor house and a tithe barn . In 1218 it came into secular possession, its seigneurs named themselves after the town. In the Hundred Years War (1337-1453) it was destroyed by the Bourguignons . The manor house was converted into a farm in the 17th century and sold to the Marquis of Nantouillet ( Seine-et-Marne department ) in 1615 . Like the localities of Mondescourt, Pontoise-lès-Noyon and Babœuf , the Canny fief came into the possession of the Seigneurs of Varesnes. In 1622 Louis de Barbançon gave Canny to Louis Antoine Duprat, marquis de Nantouillet.

History Estays

Traces of settlement in the Gallo-Roman period (52 BC to 486 AD) were discovered in 1803 in the hamlet of Estay. The Estay fief came into the possession of the Longpont Monastery in 1155 . In 1609 the fief of Joram de Vrévin, a lieutenant general of the Bailliage and Prévoté of Chauny , belonged to the Méniolle d´Armancourt family in the 18th century.
