Trosly-Breuil is a French commune in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France with an area of 1,098 hectares and 2,081 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017). The place is 80 km north of Paris near Compiègne in the valley of the Aisne canalised here at an altitude of 39 meters above sea level. It borders the Compiègne forest and has a small port on the Aisne, the Port de la Joyette .

history

The statement that the Franconian kings owned a palace in Trosly-Breuil, at that time royal appanage , has not yet been proven. Ebroin , caretaker in the time of King Dagobert II , transferred this to the Abbey of Soissons .

Parts of the church from the 15th century have been preserved from the end of the Middle Ages.

Trosly-Breuil was the beginning of the 20th century for the airship hangar of Adolphe Clément known. Here in 1908 he built the airship Clément-Bayard No. 1, which should be followed by at least five more. The No. 1 broke the record of the closed sightseeing flight, with the No. 2 succeeded in crossing the English Channel for the first time .

In 1964, the Canadian Jean Vanier and the two mentally handicapped Frenchmen Philippe Seux and Raphaël Simi founded the first partnership of the L'Arche organization in Trosly-Breuil , which is now spread in 36 countries. With the declared aim of being a sign of hope, loyalty, solidarity and reconciliation for the world, this spiritual community promotes the coexistence of disabled and non-disabled people.
