Autrêches is a northern French municipality with 733 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Compiègne and the canton of Compiègne-1 .

geography

Autrêches is the easternmost municipality in the Oise department. It is located on the border with the Aisne department , 86 kilometers northeast of Paris , 69 kilometers northwest of Reims and about 22 kilometers northeast of Compiègne , the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement of the same name . Neighboring municipalities of Autrêches are Moulin-sous-Touvent in the west, Vassens in the north, Saint-Christophe-à-Berry in the south and Saint-Pierre-lès-Bitry in the southwest. The municipal area covers 1303 hectares, the mean height is 99 meters above sea ​​level , the Mairie stands at an altitude of 86 meters.

history

During the First World War (1914-1918) the Rendsburg 36th Infantry Brigade ( Infantry Regiment "Graf Bose" (1st Thuringian) No. 31 ) captured Autrêches on September 20, 1914 and the community was then occupied by Germans for three years. In May 2006, hunters found the body of a French soldier who disappeared on September 16, 1914. He was buried with military honors the following November.

Saint-Victor church

The Saint-Victor church was built in the 16th century. In 1913 the church was listed as a monument historique . In 1918, however, it was badly damaged in the course of fighting in the First World War. Only the crypt and parts of the masonry remained. It was practically rebuilt after the war. It was restored in 1956.
