Vassens is a commune with 151 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Soissons and is part of the canton Vic-sur-Aisne and the community association Communauté de communes Retz en Valois . The parish moved from the Arrondissement of Laon to the Arrondissement of Soissons with effect from January 1, 2017 . She was awarded the Croix de guerre award from 1914 to 1918.

The municipality with the districts of Le Mesnil, Vézin and Le Pont is located on the Ru de Vassens stream and on the border with the Oise department between Noyon and Soissons . Neighboring municipalities are Blérancourt and Saint-Aubin in the north, Selens in the northeast, Morsain in the east, Autrêches in the Oise department in the south and Audignicourt in the west.
