The municipality with the districts of Pont de Vailly, Saint-Audebert, Notre-Dame de Boves and Château du Bois Morin is located south of the Aisne , which is flanked by the lateral canal Canal à l'Aisne . Neighboring municipalities are Vailly-sur-Aisne and Chavonne on the opposite bank of the river in the north, Cys-la-Commune in the east, Brenelle in the south and Chassemy in the southwest.

In the community, named Praella in 1208, prehistoric artifacts a. a. found from the Moustérien . The municipality carries the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.
