Saint-Mard is a commune of 112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Soissons and is part of the canton of Fère-en-Tardenois and the communal association Communauté de communes du Val de l'Aisne . She is the bearer of the Croix de guerre 1914–1918.

geography

The municipality is located around 25 km east of Soissons , with the district of Le Rhue south of the Aisne , which is flanked by the lateral canal Canal latéral à l'Aisne . Neighboring communities are Soupir on the opposite bank of the river in the north, Pont-Arcy and Viel-Arcy in the east, Dhuizel in the southeast, Courcelles-sur-Vesle in the south and Cys-la-Commune in the west.

history

Until the First World War , in which the community suffered considerable damage, it was served by the meter gauge network of the Chemins de fer de la Banlieue de Reims .
