Septmonts is a municipality with 560 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Soissons and is part of the canton of Soissons-2 .

geography

The community with the districts of Bienne and Ferme de la Carrière de l'Évêque is located on the right bank of the Crise river , which flows into the Aisne , around five kilometers south-southeast of Soissons . Neighboring municipalities are Belleu and Billy-sur-Aisne in the north, Rozières-sur-Crise in the east and south and Noyant-et-Aconin in the west.

  • The castle Château de Septmonts with a 43 m high donjon from the 14th century includes a ruinous residential building of the bishops of Soissons in the Renaissance style , which has been under roof since 2010. The complex was classified as a Monument historique in 1920 and 2006 ( Base Mérimée PA00115922).
  • The 15th century Saint-André church in flamboyant Gothic style with a triumphal cross (poutre de gloire), Monument historique since 1933 (Base Mérimée PA00115924).
  • The Ferme de la Carrière-l'Évêque homestead, registered as a Monument historique since 1928 (Base Mérimée PA00115925).
