Dammard is a French municipality with 379 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Soissons , to which it moved from the arrondissement of Château-Thierry with nine other municipalities in 2017 , and is part of the canton of Villers-Cotterêts . The municipality holds the Croix de Guerre award. The inhabitants are called Dammardois (es) .
geography
The municipality located south of the Ourcq with the districts Montmarlet and Montêmafroi in the west is u. a. on the department road connected to the D22 road department D4 that the approximately seven kilometers northwest located La Ferte-Milon with Neuilly-Saint-Front connects, and to the south of the brook Ruisseau d'Allan. Neighboring municipalities are Passy-en-Valois in the north, Macogny in the east, Chézy-en-Orxois in the south and La Ferté-Milon in the west.
history
The parish name is derived from the Latin form Domnus Medardus (after the parish patron Medardus von Noyon ). The community suffered badly from the fighting of the First World War .
