Pommiers is a northern commune with 688 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Soissons and the canton of Soissons-1 (until 2015: canton of Soissons-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Pomméramiens .
geography
Pommiers is about three kilometers west-northwest of the city center of Soissons on the Aisne River . Pommiers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vaurezis in the north, Pasly in the northeast, Soissons in the east, Mercin-et-Vaux in the south, Pernant in the southwest, Osly-Courtil in the west and Cuisy-en-Almont in the northwest.
Route nationale 31 runs along the southern edge of the municipality .
history
The Celtic oppidum Noviodunum of the Suessionen is said to be in the municipality on the border with Soissons .
